April in Algonquin

Mark and I have seen Moose prints and Moose droppings but never a Moose, at least not in Ontario, and this trip to Algonquin we were determined to see one.

Finally...our losing streak was broken!

This Moose looks like he's laughing!

This Moose was young, with Mom watching from the forest.

It was hard to find a Moose that didn't look like it was spitting.

Another spitting Moose!

Such a huge animal...and such tiny bottom teeth!

Baffled by Buffleheads

I'm not sure how, but this pair of Buffleheads knew the exact moment when I had composed my shot, adjusted exposure and was ready focus.  Gone!  I had a really fun photo shoot at Ashbridges yesterday with this pair.

An all-too-familiar sight at Ashbridges!
I did manage to get a few photos of the female, who seemed ok with my presence.  All seemed tranquil on the surface but every few minutes she would suddenly run across the water.  The male would "coincidentally" surface at the exact spot where she had been swimming.

Not a moment's peace!

The Culprit!

Alone at last!
I thought a giant Bufflehead had landed in the water next to me because of all the splashing.  Instead, it was a dog who ruined my Bufflehead shoot and he had no choice but to pose for me.
